JOIN US FOR WORSHIP

We Worship every Sunday morning at 10:00 A.M. both in person and online. Each service includes Holy Communion and features blended music - both organ & guitar/keyboard ensemble.  A fully staffed nursery is available, and children of all ages are always welcome in worship.

At Immanuel, we believe that church should be a place of belonging for everyone. People of every age, race, gender, ability, sexual orientation, and gender identity are welcomed, valued, and affirmed here. We are handicap accessible, and we strive to be a safe and inclusive space where all can encounter God's grace and grow in faith.

BAPTISM

Baptism is a holy moment. It's full of water, Word, and wonder. In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we understand baptism not as something we do for God, but something God does for us. It is pure grace, poured out and overflowing. Whether you're six days old or sixty years wise, baptism is God's welcome party with your name on it. Through water and the promises of God, we are claimed as beloved children, joined to the body of Christ, and invited into a lifelong journey of faith. At Immanuel, we baptize people of all ages. Infants, children, teens, and adults are all welcome. Each baptism is a reminder that God's love comes first. Before we can earn it, prove it, or even fully understand it, God is already there with love that never lets go.

What to Expect

Baptism usually happens during a regular worship service because faith is not a solo act. It's a communal promise. The congregation pledges to support, pray for, and walk alongside you or your child in faith. Together, we grow, stumble, sing, doubt, celebrate, question, and trust. And then do it all again.

Thinking About Baptism?

We would love to talk with you. Whether you're exploring baptism for your child or considering it for yourself, reach out. There is no pressure - just an honest conversation about grace, community, and next steps. Bring your questions. Bring your story. We've got the water.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation is not the end of the journey. It's a stepping stone. A deep breath. A sacred "yes" to the God who has already said "yes" to you.

At Immanuel, we invite 8th graders into a one-year experience of faith exploration (though Pastor does occasionally offer an adult class so don't fear asking her if you're interested). We learn the stories of Scripture, the history of Biblical context, we wrestle with big questions, and we dig into Martin Luther’s Small Catechism (10 commandments, Apostles' Creed, Lord's Prayer...) not as dusty doctrine, but as a living, breathing guide to a God who meets us in the mess and mystery of life.

This is not about memorizing the “right” answers. This is about getting curious. About learning how to ask faithful questions and trust that God is big enough to handle them. It’s about discovering how grace holds us - when we’re strong, when we’re doubting, and even when we’re rolling our eyes halfway through class.

We believe faith is formed in community. So we gather, we laugh, we serve, and we pray. We build relationships with mentors, leaders, and each other. We try things. We mess up. We learn. And then, in the rite of Affirmation of Baptism (what we often call “Confirmation Sunday”), our young people stand before God and this congregation and say, “Yes. I want this faith to be mine. I want to keep growing. I want to walk this journey with Jesus.” They are not graduating from church. They are stepping more deeply into it.

Want to Know More?

Whether you’re an 8th grader ready to dive in, or a parent wondering what this is all about, we’re here for your questions. Let’s talk. Let’s learn. Let’s wonder together. This is holy ground. And we’ve saved you a seat.

NEW MEMBER CLASS

Thinking about making Immanuel your spiritual home? Welcome. Whether you’re brand new to church or Lutheran-born-and-raised, this class is a chance to pause, ask questions, and explore what it means to be part of this particular corner of Christ’s body.

Our New Members Class is typically a four-week journey of faith, curiosity, and community. We don’t expect you to know all the answers (spoiler: we don’t either). But we do hope to stir your heart, your mind, and maybe even your calendar.

What We Cover:

  • How Lutherans Interpret the Bible
We dig into Scripture through the lens of grace, context, and curiosity - not proof texts or bumper stickers.

  • A Bit of Lutheran History (With Just Enough Nerdy Delight)
From Martin Luther’s 95 Theses to the formation of the ELCA in 1988, and yes, the splits and mergers along the way. We’ll introduce the ALC, LCA, and AELC - the "alphabet soup" that helped form who we are.

  • Law & Gospel
We talk about sin honestly (without shame spirals) and explore how the tension of Law and Gospel shapes a life of faith that’s both accountable and full of hope.

  • Sacraments: Baptism and Communion
We believe these aren’t just symbols, they’re encounters. Physical elements. Divine promises. Means of grace. Or, as Luther said, God’s Word “in, with, and under” the water, bread, and wine.

  • How We Live Together in Community
Jesus said “Blessed are the peacemakers,” not “Blessed are the passive-aggressives.” So we spend time learning how to communicate well, speak the truth in love, and support each other as we grow together.

  • ELCA Today & How we Organize
With nearly 3.3 million members and almost 10,000 congregations, we’re a part of something bigger. We are connected across three expressions - Churchwide, Synods, and Congregations - and here at Immanuel we have four ministry focuses: Each Other, Business, Community & World, and Worship.

  • Ecumenical Relationships
The ELCA is a member of the Lutheran World Federation and the World Council of Churches, and we share full communion with several other denominations. (Yes, we actually like other churches.)

  • Time and Talent
We’ll invite you to think about how your gifts, passions, and availability can find a home here - whether in worship, community outreach, behind the scenes, or somewhere entirely new.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

No pressure, no awkward tests, no need to memorize Luther’s Small Catechism (though it is a delightful little read). Just come with an open heart, a curious mind, and maybe a coffee in hand. We’re excited to walk with you. Let us know you're interested, and we’ll connect you with the next class.

WEDDINGS

Marriage is a beautiful and sacred promise - a holy “yes” to walking life’s journey together, wrapped in God’s love and grace. Whether you’re planning a big celebration or an intimate gathering, a sanctuary ceremony or a lakeside vow exchange, we are honored to walk with you.

At Immanuel, we believe weddings are worship. They’re not just about flowers and playlists (though we love a good playlist), but about centering your love story in the promises of God. Weddings can take place in our sanctuary or at another meaningful location. No matter the setting, our goal is to help you create a ceremony that reflects your faith, your story, and your hopes for the road ahead.

Premarital Counseling

Pastor Dana offers premarital counseling to help couples prepare not just for the wedding day, but for the marriage that follows. These conversations are a mix of practical wisdom, laughter, honesty, and grace. We’ll talk about communication, expectations, conflict, and what it means to root your relationship in love that reflects Christ’s.

Interested in Scheduling a Wedding?

To begin the process, please reach out directly to Pastor Dana. She’ll walk you through next steps, answer your questions, and help you imagine what this celebration could look like.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE, MEMORIALS, AND FUNERALS

Grief is holy ground.

When a loved one dies, there’s a swirl of emotion, decision-making, and sacred pause. At Immanuel, we walk with families through this tender time with compassion, care, and the unshakable promise of resurrection hope. A funeral, memorial service, or Celebration of Life is a chance to give thanks for a life, to grieve together, and to rest in the assurance that nothing - not even death - can separate us from the love of God.

Where Services Can Be Held

Funerals don’t have to happen in the church building. Pastor Dana is honored to lead services at funeral homes, gravesides, or other meaningful locations. Each service is shaped with your family to reflect your loved one’s life and faith story.

Funeral Luncheons

When services are held at the church, we offer a luncheon or dessert reception afterward, hosted by our caring team. It’s a simple but powerful way to gather, share stories, and find comfort in community.

What to Do When a Death Occurs

Reach out to Pastor Dana as soon as you are able. She will walk with you through each step - planning the service, selecting scripture or music, and holding space for whatever you’re carrying. You are not alone. We are here. And God is, too.

VISITATION

Faith isn’t limited to a building and neither is care.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, living with illness, navigating a hard season, or simply unable to make it to church, our caring ministry is available to visit with you. These visits are a way to bring the presence of Christ and the love of the congregation right to your doorstep.

We can share communion, pray together, talk about whatever is on your heart, or just sit in the quiet.

How to Request a Visit

If you or a loved one would like a visit, please reach out to the office directly. We’ll work together to find a time that fits, whether it’s at home, in the hospital, or at a care facility. You are not forgotten. You are deeply loved. And we’d be honored to come to you.

PRAYER

Life can be beautiful, complicated, heavy, or all of the above. If you’re carrying something on your heart, you don’t have to carry it alone. We would be honored to pray with you and for you. Just reach out via office email or phone (989-773-4204).
